Rural Sourcing Inc. comes to Rock Port: Company has ties in 2 other states

Rock Port, Mo. - West Technology Center, originally built to house a telemarketing
company off Interstate 29 near Rock Port, will be the new home to Rural Sourcing Inc.
Rural Sourcing is an information technology company with locations in Arkansas and
North Carolina. RSI provides information technology services at a cost 30 percent to 50
percent lower than most domestic IT companies, according a news release from the
Atchison County Development Corp. The RSI business model is designed around
locating centers in rural America to keep costs low.
The Atchison County Commission, Atchison County Development Corp., and Midwest
Data/Rock Port Telephone worked together to draw RSI to Northwest Missouri, said
development director Anne Schulueter.
"Any job that we can create here is a family that we might bring to town and a family we
might keep in Atchison County," she said while mentioning the drop in population over
the last decade in Atchison County. "Now we have a high-tech company in this corner of
the state and what we would like to do is prove that these highly educated, highly skilled
people will choose to live in a rural area and do their job here. The possibilities will be
endless."
RSI works with Fortune 500 companies offering a variety of information technology
services, said Rob Lee, an employee with Midwest Data/Rock Port Telephone.
"They do high-level application development," Mr. Lee said.
Employment will start at 10 in the first two years with room to grow. The company's
workers will perform tasks such as creating programs that help companies track inventory
or developing applications for Web sites that receive heavy viewing.
The first round of employees will begin work in January 2006. RSI will scout local
colleges this fall for qualified employees.
